We seek to support organizations and efforts working to improve and support Minnesota's early childhood education system.

Historically, McKnight has supported efforts to improve quality, affordability, and accessibility of early childhood education; to elevate early childhood issues as a state priority; to build support for system change; and to promote the goal of all Minnesota children to be ready for kindergarten.
In June 2009, McKnight announced it will invest in a new early child development goal to increase the literacy rate of Twin Cities students by the end of third grade. Guidelines will be posted later this year.
NOTE: The Foundation is not currently considering new grantees for early childhood funding.
