Grantee Profile
Funders' Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities
The Funders' Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, based in Florida, was founded in 1999 by 20 philanthropic foundations united in their desire to facilitate smart growth development principles. A key program of the Funders' Network is the Community Foundations Leadership Program. This program seeks to build community foundations' capacity and nurture a healthy balance between urban growth and preserving the environment in seven distinct geographic regions.
The 10-state corridor along the Mississippi River is home to 16 Community Foundations now working together towards their shared vision of a "Mississippi River corridor that will be clean, vital, attractive, fun, and prosperous." With this vision, there is greater opportunity to restore, revitalize, and foster balanced growth that benefits communities and the river.
