Candra Bennett (she/her) joined McKnight in September 2024 as Senior Manager of Talent and Culture. In this role, Candra manages all aspects of the talent management function for the Foundation, including recruiting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce, stewarding culture, and managing resources to support talent development. She is also a leader in the Foundation’s work on diversity, equity, inclusion, and culture. 

Candra brings 19 years of professional and managerial experience in human resources to the role. She is mission-driven and deeply committed to public service, having served in leadership roles at Minneapolis Public Schools over the past six years, as well as previously holding leadership roles at Northside Achievement Zone and Summit Academy OIC, both McKnight partner organizations. Candra is particularly passionate about serving those who have been historically marginalized and disenfranchised. As a volleyball coach and mentor, she takes pride in helping young women develop leadership skills.  

Candra was born and raised in North Minneapolis. In addition to her role as a powerful community leader, Candra is a mother and grandmother who enjoys game nights, cultural events, and long walks along Minneapolis’ abundant lakes and parkways.
