We are thrilled to announce that Tehout Selameab has been promoted from senior program officer for learning to director of learning at the McKnight Foundation. Since joining McKnight in September of 2023, Tehout has helped bolster the foundation’s learning function in support of its mission to advance a more just, creative, and abundant future where people and planet thrive. She has worked collaboratively across teams to better understand the impact of programmatic strategies and equip McKnight’s programs with the knowledge to meet their goals and objectives.
In reflecting on her new role, Tehout shared, “Learning within the space of social change provides the platform for unlocking the collective brilliance of many people to address some of our world’s most pressing issues. At this moment in our history, I am deeply motivated to work with my McKnight colleagues and our partners to translate this collective intelligence into action that improves the lives of people for whom we work.”

Tehout is a strategic research, planning, and evaluation professional with more than 20 years of experience conceptualizing, managing, and evaluating community-based programs. Prior to joining McKnight, she was the founder and CEO of arcadia research & evaluation, where she led a team of women and women of color evaluators, facilitators, and community liaisons with a passion for community-based health equity efforts. She has worked with clients across philanthropy, government, academia, and community organizations on project planning and evaluation, designing and delivering communities of practice, and co-creating conceptual frameworks and metrics. Tehout holds a PhD in evaluation studies, a Master of Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Science in applied economics from the University of Minnesota.
