We recently invited Deborah Loewenberg Ball, PhD, director of TeachingWorks, to share her insights on how high-quality teacher preparation can be a force for justice. Her approach is centered around the idea that teachers make countless seemingly minor decisions every day that have a big influence on how students perceive themselves and their ability to learn. By carefully dissecting a typical classroom scene, Ball shows us how teachers can either reinforce or interrupt patterns of oppression and inequality in the classroom.
