Trisha Harms joined the McKnight Foundation in February 2023 as a senior communications officer after more than a decade of working in strategic communications for political, advocacy, and organizing campaigns. She is especially passionate about using storytelling, narrative strategy, and digital innovation to advance justice and equity.
Most recently, she was communications director at TakeAction Minnesota, an organization working to build an equitable, people-centered democracy in Minnesota through grassroots organizing. She previously worked as a statewide communications coordinator at AFSCME Council 5, Minnesota’s largest public-sector union.
Trisha is honored to serve as a community faculty member at Metro State University, where she teaches digital campaigns for social change in the Department of Public and Nonprofit Leadership. She holds a bachelor of arts in English and Women’s Studies from Hamline University and a Master’s in Advocacy and Political Leadership from the University of Minnesota in Duluth.
