Jim Zappa joined McKnight as general counsel with the President’s Office in April 2025. In this role, Jim provides strategic legal counsel to the organization, overseeing legal matters and advising on complex legal issues, which is pivotal in supporting governance, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Prior to joining McKnight, Jim worked at CHS Inc. as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and at 3M Company in multiple legal and compliance leadership roles. Jim serves the community as a member of the board of directors and governance committee of GroundBreak Coalition. He also served on the Greater Twin Cities United Way board of directors for eight years, including as board chair in 2022-2023.
Jim enjoys exercise, reading, travel, and spending time outdoors with his family.
